Final Hong Kong Characters

I decided to abandon the 3d thing and go in a completely different direction, my final characters are an old anxious looking Hong Kong man and a suspicious looking young Hong Kong girl.  I wanted to show some sort of tension between the two and make it look like they are about to have some sort of conversation.

Clay man with pipe cleaner man.

3d models

I have been making some 3d models, not very successfully however. I first tried clay, but it wasn't the effect I was going for. I'm thinking about trying fabric or pipe cleaners next.

Clay Man minus arms!

Character Design

Here are a few pages from my sketchbook. I have to come up with two characters based on Hong Kong so to get started I have been drawing some people from life.

Final Leaflet/poster

Here is the final leaflet/poster. I tried to make the poster side as busy as the leaflet not to sure if it works, but i'm happy with the illustrations.

Sections of my leaflet!

Thought i'd work on the leaflet part first. Here are some of the illustrations.

I want the sections of the leaflet to run into each other slightly, and the text to be curved around the image, so the illustrations don't look to boxed in.

Leaflet!

I need to create a leaflet/poster about the sights of Hong Kong. So this piece of work needs to be functional and practical! Hmmm... could be rather tricky. Here are some ideas from my sketchbook as to what I am going to include.

Just some random ideas, a junk boat ,Tian Tian buddha and the bird cage gardens.

Lanterns

Often associated with festivals, paper lanterns are common in China and similarly, in Chinatowns, where they are often hung outside. Very Pretty!
